“For by one sacrifice He has perfected forever those who are being sanctified” (Heb 10:14)
The entire message of the gospel or the good news revolves around one unique event; the sacrificial death of Jesus on the cross at Calvary. The powerful expression that the above text revealed to us was this; Perfected Forever.
- Jesus was punished that we might be forgiven.
- Jesus was wounded that we might be healed. (Isa 53:4-5)
- The third aspect of the exchange is summed up as follows; Jesus was made sin with our sinfulness that we might be made righteous with His righteousness. (Isa 53:10)
- Jesus died our death that we might receive His life.
- Jesus endured our poverty that we might share His abundance.
- Jesus bore our shame that we might share His glory.
- Jesus endured our rejection that we might have His acceptance with The Father.
- Jesus became a curse that we might enter into the blessing. (Gal 3:13-14)
